I read in an old post that decal masks were not implemented, such that any object in a decal region will get drawn on. I need a feature where only specific items in the region are decaled on. For instance, in my game, using terra, there are hills and terrain geometry, and I think I need to use decals onto the terrain for various features, but these decals need to affect only the terrain and not meshes on/above the terrain.
The old post suggested some things that could be done. What is the current status, and what are the current suggestions for getting this concept working? I will have to cross this bridge at some point...
