just found this out while checking out random Made with Ogre3D games. This was way back 2017, a bit surprised this wasn't featured or posted so here you go:

They used PopcornFx SDK for their particle system, apparently the software tool already dropped Ogre3D support.
This was a cute touch though with one of the characters with the ogre3d shirt below:
