Hey there, I was successful in importing meshes from the 2009 game Venetica into Blender using blender2ogre. But after exporting them again, they are not being recognized by the game. I have no idea about ogre, so if anyone would have an idea of how I could maybe make this work, I would appreciate it!
Replace meshes in game made with ogre (Venetica)

First, open the original mesh file in any text program (like Notepad) and look at the first line.
Then, do the same for the exported mesh that are not recognized by the game.
For my meshes, it says something like "[MeshSerializer_v1.100]". That is the version of the mesh, and that needs to be the same with the original file compared to the newly exported file.

Thank you very much! The versions indeed are different, the game's meshes are [MeshSerializer_v1.40] while mine are [MeshSerializer_v1.100]. Would you happen to know how I could convert the mesh to the correct version? I've been looking up lots of ogre versions to try and find one that converts to this version, but so far unsuccessfully.

What does it mean that the meshes are not being recognized?
Do you get an error somewhere?
Do they not appear in the game?
What kind of meshes? Are they NPCs or rigged meshes?

I am not sure how to convert them. But when you export it from the 3D modelling software, you can (at least in Maya) choose which version you want to export to.
Like this:

So in that case, make sure to export them to the MeshSerializer_v1.40 in your 3D modelling software.
Trying to download the right Ogre version might be hard, since when I started with my project, I used 1.9, and that was around 10 years ago, so I am not really sure where to get that 1.4 version unless your exporter actually supports previous versions like my image above shows.

In Blender the option of choosing the version sadly doesn't exist... I will take a look at the other ogre exporters. Good to know this option exists in e.g. Maya!

Depending on what I try replacing it either crashes or just doesn't show up in game. I was just trying out different meshes to see if I managed to make it work for now. But there is definitely something wrong with the meshes I exported (probably the version) since replacing with other meshes from the game does work.

Re: Replace meshes in game made with ogre (Venetica)
Henlo, I managed to Modify the meshes and skeletons of venetica, while searching for a XML converter I found out Kenshi uses ogre, and not only that, kenshi tools worked very well when importing and exporting from blender and into the game (tho searching what version of the tools were compatible and their options was a pain in the 4ss)
the tools I used were:
Meshes with "Kenshi_IO_Continued-main" version: 2022.6.15 by Kindrad
Skeletons with "Kenshi_io_tools" version: 1.3.1 by Lucius
I wrote a small guide on how to mod this game in the mod page I made, and also in the optional files of the mod it contains the blender files and the kenshi tools zips.
This is the mod (nsfw warning
