Milkshape model: need help!

Post by burrito »

Hi,

First sorry for my bad english.

- Ive download the exporter for milkshape 3D and install it.. no problem when i export my model without material. I can load the model .mesh file in ogre, but its all white without textures (logic..). My first question is how can i import animation skeletton and textures?
- When i try to export my model with textures milkshape 3D crash with this error message: "Run time Error! Program: ms3d.exe abnormal program termination"

Thanks a lot for your help!

It's been ages since I last used ms3d, but I think you should rename the materials for your model in ms3d, making sure that you give them sensible names.
Afterwards, create an Ogre .material file and use those material names.

Btw: I believe there is a readme right next to the exporter.

No, the problems are not related.
Just read the readme, try some things - and post how it goes.

So, after a couple days you have nothing else to show other than a grumpy smiley? :)

Come on, man! Search for "ms3d" here, go Google, try some stuff - MS3D doesn´t bite (at least not the current version).

And, FYI: You are breaking a lot of the Forum Ruleshere.
Consider this a warning.

How come you are so sure the problems are not related? This thread mentions two problems and the other thread mentions two problems with two suggested solutions.

Problem 1 of this thread: Exporting a model with, skeleton, animations and textures.
Solution: Read the manual. In the other thread I provide an Ogre animations file to be used by the exporter.

Problem 2 of this thread and problem 1 of the other thread:
Crashing of an application due to animations.
Solution: Remove the "cam" bone as suggested in the other thread.

Problem 2 of the other thread: Animation with key frame intervals go wrong
Solution: Don't use shortest path interpolation or split up the animation keys.

1. No textures.
2. Crash when using the exporter.

burrito utters no word about animations, bones and the like.

I agree with you that the manual/readme should be read, and that´s what I suggest.

burrito will probably check out that thread later, but right now burrito wants to export textures from ms3d.
