academic handout request

Post by galran »

Hi,

I’m not sure that it is appropriate for this forum so don’t take my head off :)
I’m a PhD student involved in two academic “computer graphics” projects towards SIGGRAPH 2006.

Plainly speaking, in order to help us “sell” out ideas, we need some cool data and animations.
More precisely, for one project we need models with good looking textures of fruits and vegetables (and any other “very recognizable” and “simple” object that you can think of).

For the other project we need human “walking” animations – walking, turning and any other day to day walking behaviors.

I can promise acknowledgment (by name or any other method) in the final paper and also no abuse of any kind of the material supplied.

If you are willing to help, please contact me at: galran2@gmail.com

Btw, I’m submitting this in the OGRE forum because we going to use it as our rendering library/solution.

TIA,

Ran Gal

Have a look at the thousands of models and art available on TurboSquid.

www.turbosquid.com

Ogre Exporters for most major modelling packages exist, so pick a format that works for whatever tools you have, or grab Blender3D and import whatever you can into there, and export those files to Ogre format as described in the Wiki (points at big blue button at top right of screen).

Wow, this was quick.
I know (and appreciate) “turbosquid” models. The problem is (per my subject title) is that their models cost money. Right now, the only thing we can offer is an “ever lasting” acknowledgment in the world of academic papers, but no more…

You'll find mostly programmers on this forum. If you are looking for art, I think you'll have more chances trying art-oriented forums, such as elYsiun.com or CGTalk.

Or you could still learn Blender and create nice models and animations
