@betajaen: You're right, that can't be correct. The 140 years must refer to something else. 27000 light years mean 27000 years before the observation reaches us, no quantum effect could help with that. (Only thing that might would be if they had also discovered a worm hole, but that would be a discovery of an entirely different scale
) I'll assume that 140 years mean that the images they received of the supernova are from when it was 140 years old (?).
