But... if these people are real guys subscribing to the forum... what could stop them?
Any security measure would also discourage "real" users, as happens with game copy protections.
The only thing i can think of, is prohibiting for example links from users with < 10 posts;
I mean, if they can't have links to anything in the messages or in the signature, their spam is just pointless
PS: How their activity can make money? Nobody on these forum could have clicked on those links, because totally off-target and suspicious... why they found useful to pay a person to spam?

It's not just this forum they're hitting. Their software probably just does something like google and find any phpbb forums. Then tries to create an account, and toss a few spams in._tommo_ wrote:PS: How their activity can make money? If the links are found, it doesn't cost them anything since it's all either automated, or done by low cost workers.
If the links aren't found it boosts the site's search rankings when search engines crawl them, so when people do want some gold/whatever and do a search in google they get their site close to the top.
Plus they probably will hit a few forums, where there are people who will click the links. After all, spammers send out millions of email messages every minute for random pills and other crap, and there are enough people in the world who will go "oh, I want some of that" and buy something off them to make it profitable.

Every post has this nice exclamation mark, so you don't need to post here anymore, but instead just klick on this little button and the post gets marked to be checked by a mod/admin.
