My name is Christian and to mae it short i want to make games.
I am a 28 yers old universety studen from sweden. Currently studying to become a teacher, and doing internet based cg courses on the side. Of the screen and of the study bench, wich are usually the same, i am a Sports interested (rugby) guy that spends my non swething time in front of ither the monitor tv our my opponent in numerous tabletop our figure games.
Thats for the short intoduction if you cant be bothered with a more detailed description of why ogre etc dont read on. If you do however read on and maby have a few quick answers for me i wold apriciate it alot.
Having been intrudused to 3dcg a few mounts back and i came into contact with blenders game engine and was amazed. So far my game making experiense consisted of fooling around with Qbasic about a aeon ago. Suffice it to say my passion for and wish to create games was reawakened. However as sweet as the blender game engine is it is still quite limited and the resaults dont look to good. Althou i am aware that i have spent to short time with it to make that judgement properly, buth as you might know blenders GUI isent the most fun to work with. So i started to search what options i had and after searching web and world i came to the conclusion that a product like ogre wold fit my needs (read wants) the best. Having virtually no coding experience i was dually warned however i am in no hurry as i see this as a hobby and know how to make a workable progression pland and lerning structure, Teacher here you know. So with my minute (think that is the right word) coding experience i wold like to know a few things. Uness you feel that it is neccesary to elaborate just answer my questions y our n our a numerical value greater then 0 ( i thik that was the correct one ) Not being a native english speaker and suffering from difficulty writing my sentances can be a bit tough to understand sometimes, our just plain painfull, so just treat every sentance that ends with a (?) as a question regardles how its built.
If i have undrestod the info correctly then Ogre will provide for me as a aspiering games maker a set of tools that i will be able to use in my C++ project mainly effects, rendering and some basic physics?
I will be able to use ogre to incorporate any grahphics and, dare i hope, motion sequenses that i have fabricated in blender our any other CG engine If i can find one that can produce equal resaults buth with a fathomable GUI.
Althou ogre cant provide me with more advanced physics it is not in the way if i do want to incorporate anothe engine for that?
Is there a ogre guide somewere that takes complete beginners i account our is it better if i just cansel my forum subscription and consentrate on making graphics and learning basic C++ for the next 6 - 12 mounths? Do take in account that with my self teaching plan my first big step will be a self made version of paddle minus the destroyable bricks att the top.
Will there be any problems for me because of me operationg on win 64 it seems that any downloadable version of ogre i see counts on you using 32?
Well thats all i can think of of the top of my head for now, i have a million ore questions buth they will have to whait. I wold apriciate any answer our comment to my questions, hell eaven a thrashing is better then no answer.
Hope hang around the forum for long//Christian
Ps if ther is any swedish members i wold love to chat. Its so much eacier to communicating in your own language wen your spelling sucks. Oh yea and any of our neighbours to southwest our northwest aswell, you know who you are
