I'm running the WIndows 7 RC, and I am running video to my LCD monitor via DVI and my HDTV via HDMI. I'm able to pull audio through the HDMI to the TV, and I also have my speakers hooked up to the sound card, so if I go into the Sound Options in Windows, there are two sound devices available: "ATI HDMI Output", and "Speakers". By making one the default, I can (usually) get all audio to go to that output, so we can watch movies in the living room, OR play games or whatever at the desk.
The problem is that ALL audio gets directed to the default audio device. so it's either or. I'd like to know if there's a way to determine per-application which audio device to use, so that my wife can watch something in the living room while I play games in the bedroom, or whatever. I tried to create an account on the Windows 7 forums, but I'm having trouble with it, so I thought I'd ask here. You guys are smart.
Any thoughts?
