Ogre for autodesk maya

Post by wiimario »

I'm new.
I don't know anything about programming :oops: :oops: :oops: , but I'm a 3d modeller for hobby.
I've downloaded the demos and I've seen all the features of this amazing engine :shock: I'd like to set it as a rendering engine in autodesk maya(2009 unlimited);
How do I'll do it? Anyone could explain me? :?:
ah, last thing sorry for the category, but I'm new and I don't know where to post it.
Thx

You can't. Besides, there's nothing that Ogre does that the OpenGL renderer in Maya doesn't do; Ogre uses OpenGL (as well as Direct3D) just like Maya.

The best option for Maya is called, oddly enough, OgreMax:

OgreMax has a realtime Ogre viewport, so you can sortof use it as a renderer. To take advantage of it properly though you'd have to set up all your materials as ogre materials (probably with shaders too)

Thanks I'm downloading it, and then what I'm supposed to do?

No, maya doesn't support cel shading and smooth mesh in the same render so I want a rendering engine capable of this.

It would probably be better if you describe more specifically the features you need. It sounds on the surface like you want an Ogre viewport -- OgreMax gives you this.

As for what you do once you download it -- did you bother to look at the rest of the OgreMax site? That "Documentation" thing looks awfully promising to me...

And once you are using OgreMax, you post questions about it in their forums, not here, btw.
