I've came here because I've managed to land a relatively small project of a homegrown flight simulation system about two months ago. I had to find a suitable engine for visualization and after looking at many alternatives I literally bet a mini-farm (plus my reputation) on Ogre
The project itself wasn't anything special except maybe controlling the pilot's seat via servo-motors to relay the plane orientation. But it was quite a success and I want to say thanks to all the people behind the Ogre 3D's engine! I absolutely loved the code base the first time I looked into it. Certainly the closest to my coding mindset among all alternatives. Albeit not all design decisions stick with me but then again, I never developed a 3D engine (except those software rasterizers running on EGA back in 90-s) so I humbly accepted them.
Special thanks go to the developers of OgreMeshy and Blender 2.6 Export script. These tools were real life savers for me! CEGui deserves a credit too for being easy to integrate and work with.
Many thanks to the users who contributed to Wiki and these forums. I believe I found many useful tricks and hints here and there. Can't remember exactly so my apologies for not being able to credit the authors directly.
I quickly grew attached to the code base and this community. In fact I can't remember any other forum where I posted over 100 times (except the old indie gamer forums but I lost my account after they moved from Dexterity so that doesn't count now
Thanks again!
