Noo - honest.

Guys, come on, let it go. This is just going to turn into a continuation of the other thread and cause more problems if people continue discussing it and taking sides.

Let the moderators and team members sort this out amoung themselves, and avoid doing further damage to the Ogre community.

I don't get it: taking sides where?

This topic began as a sympathy stunt aimed at me - but it really is about the Ogre community as a whole.
About what happened, and how we can move on.
And prevent it from ever happening again.
I don't see anyone taking sides here.
I am definitely not against Xavier, my fellow moderator.
Who is a most valued person, by me personally, and by this community.

No, we're not taking sides.
We're taking stock.

You have a responsibility for what happened.
As does each and every member of the Ogre community.

I don't agree. That would imply the responsibility to read every single thread that comes up in the forums. This is something moderators ought to do, not every member of the community.

From time to time, there are going to be people in a community who don't get along. It's unfortunate when they're both veterans who have individually contributed so much. I personally am hugely grateful to both Xavier and jacmoe for all the work they've done in the community, and would like both of them to stay. Just remember that the rules of civility apply to everyone regardless of rank.

New rules are in force in the lounge, and I hope people can keep their tempers in future. Community members have a responsibility to report misbehaviour in any of the threads they read (no-one's expecting anyone to read everything, even I don't do that) and to help defuse bad situations. But primarily individuals are responsible for your own behaviour and the effect it has on the tone of the comunity; it doesn't take much to poison years of good relationships.

There's a very simple rule that, had it been adhered to, would have avoided all of this: if you're angry - don't post.
