Maya 6.5 exporter crazyness!

Post by bangz »

Hey guys,

My artist is having a few problems with exporting from Maya 6.5, after much toying about we've managed to get a .xml loading into the Model Viewer, and exporting nicely into a .mesh file, but it seems that our .skeleton file is causing problems, causing either the Model Viewer to crash or producing very funky modern art :P

After much googling and searching thru this site we haven't been able to uncover any maya exporting tutorials or examples. Anyone else had any similar problems? If not, what are you doing differently?

Here are the files we're having problems with,

http://dawnofthedead.ath.cx/export_test_02.mb - maya file
http://dawnofthedead.ath.cx/export_test_02.zip - .xml stuff

Any ideas?

Thanks
Richard :)

Try testing it in a simple OGRE app, like Demo_SkeletalAnimation. The meshviewer is actually a community contribution and not maintained by us directly, worht checking to see if it's that first. Convert the XML using the official OgreXmlConverter.

Dont ever ever ever trust the meshviewer. In fact, don't use it at all. ;) Code your own 'artists package' using the latest ogre goodies -- thats what our team did, and it's saved me so much headache. 8)

EDIT: Just tried out your test file. Works fine. ;) Meshviewer's screwing you guys!
