Exporting Woes

Post by Gf11speed »

Hello all,

I have recently purchased a 3d model that I am having difficulty exporting for use in Ogre. I have exported models previously, but none with animations, and I'm not sure how exactly to do this. I have tried reading about it online and looking on the forums but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. The model is no longer animated when I attach all the pieces into one big piece to export. Could somebody please help me export it with it's animations. Sorry for my 3dmax nubness.

Also when I try to export, the animation section is greyed out.

The file is here:

This model is copyrighted though, so please don't get me in trouble. :)

I think this model contains animation based on Inverse Kinematics (IK) and the 3dsmax exporter doesn't support IK, right? How can I convert it to FK animation while maintaining the IK animation so that it will export properly?

I can't tell you much about Max, but in Maya there's an option to "Bake IK" -- basically it takes the keyframed range of movements, converts it into FK values, and puts it inside the skeleton. I'm positive max probably has something similar to that, which would be what you're looking for. ;)

Exactly. Luckily we've had talks about this several times already - search for "Bake" and "IK"
