Best software for textures

Post by Corben »

Hi to all,

We are looking for a good texture editor, that helps us to paint our 3d models. I was wondering what tools do you (Ogre artists) are using or if you have experience in this field.

Thanks for your time! :)

2D editing is done mostly in Photoshop (or Gimp if you can't afford PS). Other options are possibly Paint Shop Pro, but Photoshop far and away is the #1 2D editing and creation package.

How you get the usable textures could fill a book. ;)

Thanks xavier!

Everyone has ever used ZBrush? Even if I don't know how much does it cost, I heard it is nice and I wanted to know if the voices were right...

Thanks,
Corben

Photoshop is without a doubt the best tool for editing any kind of 2d imagine (as far as i know). ZBrush has a very usefull tool to create normal maps. Other than that, it its not very usefull for game content creation.
maya 7.0, vs 2005, ogre 1.2

It is (or at least was) the de facto standard tool for creating maps from 3D models. It's about US$500.
