Crysis help

Post by _Anonymous »

I'm running Crysis on GMA 950, and I know that it sounds stupid. But everything works fine, except for the water

It must be the problem with shaders. So, can anyone help me fix it?

Well, Crysis is one of the most gpu intensive games around, and the GMA 950 not exactly a powerful gpu. It has no hardware vertex shaders or hardware t&l and only pixel shader 2. That's probably the best you are going to get from it (and better than the video I watched on youtube of a 950 playing crysis).

Some time the game run at over 40 fps, with everything on. When I use SwiftShader 2.0, the water is fine. Maybe GMA 950 has some missing features, so that the water doesn't appear. => maybe changing shaders code can get the trick done?

I remember several Ogre thread posts about Intel GMA 'lying' about its render capabilities - say it can but actually can't. So this could be the result of it.

And a washed-out dream
They follow the pattern of the wind, ya' see
Cause they got no place to be
That's why I'm starting with me

With Vista and lastest driver, I can emulate HW TnL, some more feartures that don't available on XP, and faster performance.

It seems like a lot of effort (emulated tnl, swiftshader, vista with specific drivers, etc) when crysis itself costs more than a nvidia (or probably ati, didn't look at prices for them) gfx card capable of running crysis.

Nah, Swiftshader is just for testing because it is too SLOWWWWW. And when using it, there is no need for other things
