Wow. Pretty cool project! :)

I just wanted to throw in the link to DigiChristWorks.
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Er, by the way:
You *are* going to use Ogre3D, right?
And Blender, naturally.
Nice that you're basing it on open source.

Oh bummer, I am not allowed in.
Is this really going to be Ogre based anyway?
And is there anyone working on it at all yet? There is just about any position open that I can even remotely imagine a software project needs.

It sounds to me like the OP doesn't even know -- perhaps he simply posted this in every site that seemed remotely to have to do with 3D graphics or gaming? Has anyone looked at GameDev to see if he posted there too?

I'm leaning towards locking or removing this post, because while it sounds like a fine idea, it's nothing to do with Ogre that I can tell.
Do you need help? What have you tried?

I vote for removal.
A day to give the OP time to respond. Ogre being mentioned there seems to be the result of a google search rather than proper evaluation and the website doesn't seem to have any substantial content at all.

RPG Maker VX forum.
RPG Maker XP forum.
A7 GameStudio forum.
GarageGames forum.
CeltX forum. (CeltX is 'Media Preproduction' something).
YouTube.

I expect DigitalChristNetwork - or should I say: DigitalCrusaderNetwork - to spread even further..

Sad, really.

And I must say that i'm a little scared by the fusion he does between "CEO" "pastor" and "prophet"... this way if you do something wrong you don't get fired, you go straight to hell

A Christian RPG sounds pretty cool! :)

DigiChristWorks has been well received by various communities, and I'd like Ogre forum to be no different.

However, this topic doesn't meet the requirements for this forum:
Please only post in this area if you have a _serious_ project proposition for which you already have something to show for.
Right now, I can't see anything but good spirit.

You probably don't mean the irrlicht community by this. ;)
There dcworks wrote a "response": http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/ ... 775#179775

Anyway, unless someone makes a valid case, this thread is going to be removed.

Wow.
The IrrLicht forum sure is immature. :)

This was the first comment:
you even top the announcement from the 15 year old's these days.
programming for GOD? under the lead of the great CEO?
WHAT THE HELL?!
I am astonished.
I mean, read the rest of the topic..
IrrLicht has some serious forum problems.
That would never be allowed to happen here.

TrueVision and A7 forums were more mature about it.

Haffax, I am not sure what you mean by "response".
I see nothing wrong with God loves you.
Certainly is better than childish ridicule and foul remarks.

Really, i see the point in the replies in the Irrlicht forums...because the thing isn't at all limited to "god loves you".

It involves donations of real money to save your soul, pyramid schemes, indoctrination, fusion of marketing and religion, blind following of a "leader" (the CEO) who knows the supreme truth... and a good dose of cross-forum posting.

It's the base of any fundametalism, and I don't like it at all.

He tells that you should donate to Jesus, but meanwhile he takes the cash.

I am not the least impressed by his self-righteous waffle and yes "God loves you" is wrong in this context. It is solely used to claim moral high ground, where none is warranted.

If we don't like it, we don't like it.
That doesn't give any of us the rights to misbehave.
If you're not impressed, Haffax - and I am not impressed either, but that's not the issue here - you are entitled to be unimpressed.
But that doesn't warrant bad behaviour.
In fact, that makes us self-righteous too.

A game with a religious setting? No problem (there's plenty of games with norse and greek gods). Wanting the entire dev team to follow the beliefs of the ceo? Still fine.

But that post is just completely over the top. It's not a guy looking for some fellow christians to work on a game, this sounds like a tv evangelist, specifically one of the less reputable ones.
IrrLicht has some serious forum problems.
That would never be allowed to happen here.
No need to bash the irrlicht forum, there was nothing in that thread out of place.

Let's take a closer look at the opening post:
must be able to learn lite-c
Lite-C is a free games development language. If programmers must learn it, then this project isn't going to be ogre or irrlicht based.
The CEO has a vision straight from the Lord
Ok...
willing to be under authority to allow God to use you in a great way under the direction of the CEO
I get a bit nervous whenever one person claims to speak for god. Isn't this the way most cults start? Usually they involve building secure compounds rather than rpgs, but still...
We are not looking for religious people
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY….LOVE JESUS CHRIST
Umm, it's a game about christianity, lead by a ceo who is given visions of game design by god and will have spiritual authority over the team, which is designed to spread christianity, and you have to love jesus, but you can't be religious?
How many non religious people would work on such a project under those conditions?

The website is virtually empty, but the biggest page is where they ask for paypal donations, playing mmos to earn money, and selling a christian rap dvd.
From the site:
Donate
Your faith sewn seed will be used to promote the Global Vision of the Kingdom of God by funding Crusades
Please be careful throwing the word "crusades" around, some parts of the world are still waiting for an apology for the previous ones.
We have provided a way for you to be able to still sew into God's kingdom which will then in turn put you into position to receives blessings upon your lives. MetaRl provides a way you can make virutal dollars by filling out surveys and every survey you fill out will give you points which will help you to be able to enjoy the beneifts of MMOs like habbo without paying for credits.
My wow gold farmer sense is tingling. Not as useful as spider-sense, but I make do with what I have.

Just to make it clear, I have no problem with the idea, but the post and website (combined with spamming it to various game dev forums while ignoring their rules) looks so much like either a scam or the rantings of a cult leader.

How many game recruitment posts on here ask for cash and equipment donations before even getting a team together?

dcworks: What you probably should do is research or get volunteers to research technologies, engines, etc. that will be required to complete your project. At that point you'll be able to recruit people who will be familiar with whatever engine, etc. you're using. For example if you had already determined that Ogre is the engine you'll use for your game, this post would be a perfectly valid recruit entry on this site.

Otherwise, cross-posting recruitment posts on multiple engine's sites is generally considered a bad thing because it shows that you either haven't determined what engine you're going to use, or you don't care because it's spam or a hoax. I don't think this is spam or a hoax personally (like some people are bound to) - I think you just need to do a little more research so you know how to recruit for a project like this properly.

Thanks for all of your advice....

Post by dcworks »

Thank you so much for your advice. God bless you all. If you feel this is a spam or hoax then this is not for you and just as i said in my first post you can move along. To the moderators if you feel what i posted is incorrect for your forums than i apologize and you have the right to close the post. To those who are critics, one advice is to take time to ask the person what he or she meant before you draw up your own conclusions because you could be wrong or misunderstand. Not in public so you can defame a person's character who did nothing to you. Dont waste time being a critic because critics just critique they dont have time to actually do things because they just want their voice heard. Each person who said something harsh never even took the time to talk to me because their intentions was just to find fault, im pretty sure if your life was posted on youtube there would be some things you are not proud of..PLEASE THIS IS NOT A THREAD TO VENT YOUR OPINIONS why waste your time? this will be the last time i will speak on this thread a lie is short lived so if what iam saying is false, then it will not stand that i can gurantee...take care everyone may God bless you all

P.S We are not here to bash and accuse, leave that Job for the devil, The job that God has placed for us on this earth is to love one another and uplift one another, if you dont take time to understand someone before you accuse them no matter how smart you think you are, you are only being self-confident, prideful and unloving because you would never want anyone to do the same to you. Take care

I think you should at least have tried to answer the questions and criticism presented to you here if you want this thread to not get deleted.

Judging by your previous post. As you didn't bother to do that then this thread is clearly spam in my eyes and should be deleted as soon as possible.

Pretty much agree with Kojack, especially after reading the second posting from dcworks.
