It's too early in the morning for me and my GoogleFu isn't up to snuff.... does anybody have a handy link to a CPU diagnostic tool, something akin to memtest86+ ? Or to be more specific, one that runs directly on the "bare metal". Everything I'm coming up with at the moment are fan/temperature monitors and "stress" testers for Winders.

CPU Diagnostic tool?
I'm trying to help a friend chase down an intermittent and rather subtle problem and we want to rule out the hardware before diving into a total reinstall.

To wit, the motherboard manufacturer only offers the former (pinheads).
