Is is only me...
...or did someone actually toy around with the forum badges? It seems to me as if they would now have a strange thick black border around them. The border probably has always been there, but the thickness has increased. Or am I sitting too much in front of this damn box starring at moving pixels while typing code and writing documentation all day long
?

Oh, I thought you meant a rectangular border around it all. No it's always been there.

Re: Is is only me...
That is really strange, because to me it honestly looks like that border grew. I never really reliazed the black lines there before at all (sure they were there, but not in such an aggresive way).
But since I seem to be the only one seeing them...I will shut up now and stop working for today

Re: Is is only me...
Firefox 3.6.12 on Vista. Same on XP.
Again: Since I am pretty sure that there was an optical change (I usually pay quite some attention to that although not always willingly, but these things are instantly jumping to my eye), I would now guess that perhaps some of the automatic FireFox updates perhaps influenced the rendering engine so that in some (special) cases there were some changes. Although that would be something that should not happen and would most likely have instantly be reported to the FF team and been fixed by now. So still no real clue...

Still 3.6.10 here -- I'll look for it when it updates itself next.

I found a copy of the silver forum badge on one of my hard drives from a thread I saved 2 years ago, the file is identical to the current image on the forum.

Re: Is is only me...
Again, strange. So my last hope is that people also running FF 3.6.12 have the same situation. Otherwise...Kojack wrote:I found a copy of the silver forum badge on one of my hard drives from a thread I saved 2 years ago, the file is identical to the current image on the forum.

Re: Is is only me...
I'm using Chrome, I see the borders. Win 7 64bit.
edit> Just tried Firefox. The borders don't seem to be rendered the same way (and I think that's normal as Firefox don't use Webkit).
By the way, I was thinking that the "problem" might be related to the fact that if you have a big resolution screen and you use one of these recent browser AND you did zoom any Ogre website page before, then you have the rendering set to zoom for the whole website and that might make some graphic artefacts.
Like for me the starts have aliasing because I've X4 on my (big) screen for the whole website - in chrome. I see strange texture bleeding in some gmail icons too because of that.

Re: Is is only me...
Well, I have to admit the proof is damn good and my chances to regain my sanity are decreasing every second
.
Again, I would still swear that there were some changes, but until I have proof (and I am rational enough to know that is likely to never happen), I will just be quiet and watch for any signs of future manipulation...and perhaps a shirnk
.
Thanks for all the efforts put in to proof me wrong

They did look thicker than I remember, but that was only after you mentioned it. I checked because it seemed like a strange change to make.

Re: Is is only me...
It's not just you, spacegaier! This happened to me a year ago. You were just never very aware of it in the first place. Your brain often remembers the concept of an image, and not the actual graphic. For example, you might remember that the Google logo is rainbow coloured, but you may not remember the exact colour for every letter. Unimportant details like a black border are usually discarded unless specifically commited to memory. From an evolutionary perspective, black borders do not exist in nature and thus were not very important for visual memory. Rather, our visual system has built-in edge enhancement that helps to clarify the object being looked at. It's weird how visual memory works.

@omniter: by the way this reminds me, from an evolutionary perspective, I believe visual memory is used to anti-aliasing, because I've always noticed the big black pixels around your dancing avatar
