Blender's 2.5 series has finally left beta after years of work (apparently these changes have been in progress since 2007, with the first 2.5 alpha in 2009).
2.57 is the first stable release of the 2.5 series. There will be one more release, 2.58, in 2 months time to fix bugs and tie up and loose ends, then development on the 2.6 series will begin.
If they ever get around to adding 3D Connexion support back in I might actually start learning to use Blender.

Hooray!
That was a good, long wait..
(Not as long as DNF, but almost)
Now I can start enjoying it.
Thanks for the prod.

Re: Blender hits stable 2.57 release
While I knew this (I compile my own Blender as I throw in a few custom tweaks and changes), I can say quite honestly "It's about bloody time!"
I have not user Blender 2.49 (the previous version) for well over a year now. All of my work and all the best improvements to the system have been in the 2.5x versions and they are very impressive. Now that they have solidified a release (in terms of features and Python API) - I think it is time for a Blender version of LevelShop.

Oooooh.
Looks like they cleaned up the interface a lot. Unfortunately I've used 2.4x for long enough that it's probably going to be tough to get used to... my previous attempts with the 2.5 alphas haven't gone so well...

Re: Blender hits stable 2.57 release
Excellent news. It seemed to take forever.
Can't wait for an Ogre exporter.
The interface is a little different, but I think its pretty good.
