Recently Apple has introduced Metal API for lowest-overhead access to the GPU. It appears in the new OS X El Capitan. This technology will be available in both desktop and mobile Apple platforms.
I think it's a good idea to support Metal in Ogre and start to write Metal Render System.
So, may be it's time to make a record about support for Metal in the current roadmap?

I expect metal will disappear once vulkan is ready, don't forget apple helped to make vulkan as well.

Will have the same fate like Mantle did. right now i'm early started to develop to the Metal Rendering Subsystem for OGRE when i updated to the beta of El Capitan in my MacBook Pro, looks more understanable than OpenGL did.Zonder wrote:I expect metal will disappear once vulkan is ready, don't forget apple helped to make vulkan as well.
